About
Throughout history people have continuously attempted to resolve photography without ever coming to a conclusion, it is forever changing, progressing and developing through technology. It has the capacity to capture the real, a moment in time, yet at the same time it inherits multiple capacities for reproduction. It is impossible to define in a single term.
‘Photographs are chunks of time you can hold in your hand’ Angela Carter. The Magic Toyshop.
This has inspired my production of work during my studies at the Arts Institute Bournemouth, to generate work based on personal attempts to resolve my understanding of the subject. Taking it in directions beyond the expected has allowed to me explore the practical potential of the subject in a fine art based context. I have achieved this so far in conjunction with personal reflection on my own current state of being. It has introduced me to theories of identity, existence, consciousness and memory, with particular reference to Freud and his writings on Psycho-Analysis. Recently my work has shifted to interweave these ideas with the natural landscape in which surrounds us.
I have recently completed a BA (Hons) Photography degree at the Arts Institute Bournemouth. I will be exhibiting in a group exhibition in June, FlorisPhoto (follow link below for details) and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth Graduate Show.
